So to not go on a long tangent I'm just going to give 2 major reasons why the adaptations being live action doesn't work/ever help.Ĭhasing star power: Now its a given that if they were to actually make a bug budget animated video game movie they'd try to use big name stars for marketing appeal, but the point I try to posit is that, first off a lot of video game characters, wouldn't look well realistically. Even though curing the Genophage is the morally right thing to do the ramifications could be, and in the case of Wrex not being their leader, would be disastrous.Īnd remember that Shepard, or anyone for that matter, has zero reason to believe there was some mastermind controlling the Rachni at this point nor do they have any reason to believe this queen will be different and taking that chance could endanger trillions of lives.įine, I've elaborated before, but usually it just ends up getting buried in threads and looked over anyway because no one gives a shit about animation anyway. The amount of literal damage and cultural damage the Rachni caused are literally astronomical.Īs for the Krogan, even Wrex states at one point that he understands why the Genophage happened and that while extreme it was either that or extinction at the time. Shepard is taking a chance with a species that waged war on the galaxy for 300 years which resulted in the rash decision of uplifting the Krogan which resulted in the Genophage. The Rachni queen on Noveria was revived from an egg that survived the Rachni wars but even if that wasn't true there is no evidence anywhere to suggest the Rachni are living peacefully because they are believed to be extinct. The cast must be a relatively expensive part of the budget compared to other shows.Įxcept the Rachni haven't been alive and living peacefully. There are episodes where it makes sense because there’s a lot more CGI, but like half of the episodes are just a guy in a helmet walking around Earth-like vistas, and the episode with Boba’s return looked like a fan film shot in California half the time. The Mandalorian looks good, but I’m not sure how it’s justifying its budget (reportedly around $15 million an episode) for some episodes. I imagine that for near-realistic CGI like the guy above was talking about in Kingsglaive, the cost (and production time) per episode would skyrocket if the previous CGI Final Fantasy movies are any indication. When adjusting for episode length (TCW has 20 minute episodes versus 40 minutes for The Expanse), their price becomes quite comparable. For comparison, a good-looking sci-fi show like The Expanse can be made for $2-5 million. TCW likely cost somewhere in the range of $1-2 million per episode. For a non-Lucas comparison, Rebels had noticeably lower graphical quality, though it was still decent. The Clone Wars was one of the most expensive CGI shows ever made, being personally funded by Lucas.
